One Book, One College Returns October 16th, 2024

RCSJ’s One Book, One College, in partnership with the Cumberland Campus Educational Foundation, announces its 2024-2025 campuswide read, The Last Beekeeper by award-winning author of Waiting for the Night Song, Julie Carrick Dalton.

The quintessential summer read, The Last Beekeeper is part environmental dystopia, part coming of age, part mystery, part romance and is sure to appeal to a broad audience. The narrative delivers a much-needed reminder of the importance of safeguarding the earth and its inhabitants (even the tiniest) from unnecessary harm, and the habitual acts we perform that can imperil both.

Save the date! On October 16, at 7 pm, Dalton visits RCSJ-Cumberland’s Luciano Theatre to discuss The Last Beekeeper with community, faculty, and staff. A beekeeper, environmentalist, and author, Ms. Carrick Dalton is a frequent speaker on Fiction in the Age of Climate Crisis at universities, conferences, libraries, and museums. Her work has been featured in Chicago Review of Books, Orion, Newsweek, The Boston Globe, Electric Literature, and more.
