Newfield National Bank Gifts $15,000 to the 24th School Counts! Golf Classic

The annual School Counts! Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, June 6th at Renault Winery. This year represents our 24th School Counts! Golf Classic raising funds for Cumberland County residents enrolled in the School Counts! Scholarship Program. Students are enrolled in the School Counts! program their freshman year in high school and have successfully earned a School Counts! certificate every year thereafter.  To receive a School Counts! certificate a student needs to do four things:

  • Maintain a grade of ‘C’ or better in every course
  • Hold a 95% attendance record each year of high school
  • Take more courses than the minimum required including Algebra I
  • Complete high school in four years

By achieving the School Counts! benchmarks, the students are reliable, do quality work, do more than expected, and finish what they start.  These are all characteristics which will assist them with succeeding in life. The concept is that if students demonstrate the four characteristics of attendance, rigor, quality and persistence, they would earn a certificate which indicates they are work ready. Over 400 businesses participate in School Counts! and are eager to support the program each year through the School Counts! Golf Classic.
